Save Money On Nintendo Eshop, Xbox Gift Cards In The US

Heads up, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch owners. Newegg is running a promotion that saves you money when you buy Xbox or Nintendo Eshop gift cards. That means, if you’re planning to buy a digital game from either store in the future, you’re guaranteed to save money, whether the game is on sale or not. And if the game is on sale, the savings stack, sweetening the deal even more. But don’t delay, because the gift card deal ends April 25.

Xbox One owners can buy a $100 Xbox gift card for $85 by entering promo code EMCPTEY48 at checkout. That gives you a guaranteed 15% off any purchase you make–for instance, on a popular game like PUBG. If you buy a game that’s already on sale (like these horror games this week), you’ll get even more savings.

For Nintendo Switch, 3DS, and Wii U owners, you can get a $50 Eshop gift card for $45 by entering the promo code EMCPTEY49 at checkout. That’s a savings of 10%. If you’re looking to add that discount onto an existing deal, you can find all the deals currently available on the Eshop right here. For Switch owners, Darkest Dungeon is a solid bet. As for 3DS, you can’t go wrong with Etrian Mystery Dungeon or Persona Q.

In either case, the gift cards come in the form of codes Newegg emails to you. Just enter the code on the respective digital store, and it’ll be added to your account. Then, the next time you buy a game, you can apply it to the purchase for instant savings.

Insane Final Deadpool 2 Trailer Mocks DC And Marvel

The final trailer for Deadpool 2 has been released. The superhero sequel hits theaters in May, and this latest promo doesn’t hold back on insane action or irrelevant humor. It looks like there’s going to be lots of amazing-looking confrontations between Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and Cable (Josh Brolin), plus plenty of references to rival superhero movies. Brolin’s role as Thanos in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War and the dark tone of the DC universe are both mocked in this trailer.

It also reveals the identity of some of the other members of X-Force, the superhero team that Deadpool puts together to fight Cable. We already knew about Domino (Zazie Beetz), and the video confirms that Terry Crews is indeed playing Beldam. Beyond that, we have Shatterstar (played by Iron Fist‘s Lewis Tan), and er, Peter, a normal guy who replied to Deadpool’s ad. Check the trailer out above.

Deadpool 2 also stars TJ Miller, Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, and Julian Dennison. It is directed by David Leitch (John Wick, Atomic Blonde). He replaced Tim Miller, who reportedly clashed with Reynolds over the direction of the movie. Last month, it was reported that the film had undergone reshoots to add more footage of Cable and Domino, who had proven very popular with audiences at test screenings. The movie hits theaters on May 16.

In a recent interview with Collider, Brolin spoke about the physical challenges of playing Cable. “I got beat to s*** on that movie,” he said. “I had stuntmen throwing me all over the place. I’ve got a shoulder issue, I’ve got a knee issue that I’ve got to deal with now, but we got through it. We got through it. I pushed hard and I suffered because of it.”

Jurassic World 3 Will Go In A Different Direction to Fallen World, Director Says

The upcoming dinosaur thriller sequel Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom doesn’t hit theaters until June, but news has already started to emerge about the third movie in the series. Jurassic World 3 is set for a 2021 release, with Colin Trevorrow, who directed the first film in 2015, returning to helm it. Trevorrow has now given a few clues as to what to expect.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Trevorrow revealed that Jurassic World 3 will go in a different direction to Fallen World. “If I could contextualize each film, I would say Jurassic World was an action adventure, Fallen Kingdom is kind of a horror suspense film, and Jurassic World 3 will be a science thriller in the same way that Jurassic Park was,” he said.

Of course, we don’t know that much about Fallen Kingdom either, but the new trailer released this week did reveal some more details about the plot. As Trevorrow suggests, it certainly looks like it will have a stronger horror influence, which isn’t surprising, given director J.A. Bayona previously helmed the acclaimed Spanish chiller The Orphanage.

Trevorrow also told EW that he returning to direct Jurassic World 3 on the request of Steven Spielberg, who directed the original Jurassic Park in 1993. “Steven Spielberg asked me,” he said. “When he asks you, what can I tell you, man? In all honesty, over my past few years, I’ve grown to love and cherish the value of the gift that I’ve been given with this franchise.”

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom releases on June 22. It stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rafe Spall, Toby Jones, and BD Wong, with Jeff Goldblum reprising his role from the original Jurassic Park.

Written & Drawn by Various

“It’s not every day you see a major superhero comic reach 1000 issues. DC really pulled out all the stops with Action Comics #1000, which also marks the 80th anniversary of the Man of Steel’s debut. This issue features some of the biggest names ever to work at DC Comics, along with the DC debut of a writer who’s spent the past 20 years building a career at Marvel. The result is an oversized special crammed with new content. Just don’t expect a great amount of depth out of these short, nostalgic stories.” -Jesse

PS4/Xbox One/PC’s Super Mega Baseball 2 Release Date Announced

Originally scheduled to launch in 2017, the over-the-top arcade-style baseball game Super Mega Baseball 2 will launch on May 1, developer Metalhead announced today. The game will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC–and it’s priced at $30 in the US.

Metalhead co-founder Scott Drader said Super Mega Baseball 2 is a “more sophisticated baseball simulation” aimed at appealing to “baseball purists.” At the same time, the developer is also hoping to ensure it retains the “pick-up-and-play” element that made the first game so appealing. “Community feedback massively influenced our design choices for the sequel and we’ll be listening carefully to the community again this time when we’re considering further changes and additional content,” Drader said.

Super Mega Baseball 2 won’t look as cartoony as the first game, as character models are now “more realistically scaled.” There are also “new, more athletic” player animations, while the game’s eight stadiums have been built “from the ground up.”

Also new for Super Mega Baseball 2 is cross-play between PC and Xbox One and PC and PS4 (but not between PS4 and Xbox One), while there is online co-op and head-to-head using dedicated servers. Fans may also be happy to hear the league mode is improved with more customization items for logos, uniforms, and player gear. The game has “enhanced image quality” for PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.

Finally, Metalhead announced that it will launch three DLC packs at release that contain cosmetic customization options. No further details were announced, however.

Super Mega Baseball 2 is an unlicensed game, so you won’t see any familiar names, stadiums, or gear in the game. If you’re after a licensed MLB game, Sony’s MLB The Show 18 might be more up your alley. PUBG Savage Map Adding Underground Caves

In an effort to keep the game feeling fresh and interesting, PUBG developer PUBG Corp. has announced it will add new vehicles, more weapons, and an underground cave system to its new, smaller map. The studio briefly discussed all of this in a blog post today, outlining some of what’s to come for the Codename: Savage map.

The underground cave is inspired by a real cave system–the Phraya Nakhon Cave–that exists outside of Bangkok, Thailand. You’ll be able to parachute directly into the cave, and there are apparently “plenty methods of escape.” Here’s a rendering of what it may look like:

PUBG Corp. noted that it still has “some work to do” before showing off the underground cave. It’s going to launch in Codename: Savage’s test servers “in the next couple of testing phases,” PUBG Corp. said, though there is no word on when that may be.

The studio had nothing to say about the weapons coming to PUBG, though it did say one of the new vehicles is a Tuk Tuk, which is a motorized rickshaw. More details on the new weapons and vehicles will be announced “soon.”

Codename: Savage is a different gameplay experience than PUBG’s two other maps, thanks mostly to its smaller size. The map is 4 km x 4 km, and the result is a more close-quarters, faster combat experience, especially in the temple and resort areas. Watch the video above to get more of GameSpot’s impressions of the map, which feels a bit more like Fortnite than other PUBG experiences.

In other PUBG news, Xbox One players will soon get the chance to try the game for free. Anyone with an Xbox Live Gold membership will be able to play the full game for free April 19-22. A new cosmetic DLC pack has been announced for the game on Xbox One, too, and Microsoft has said PUBG’s second map, Miramar, will be coming to the console version of the game in May. For PC players, patch 10 is now available, bringing a number of changes to blue zones and the Miramar map.

Nintendo Switch Server Maintenance Coming Up Tomorrow

The next round of server maintenance is coming up soon for the Nintendo Switch, but thankfully the maintenance period isn’t very long.

As announced on Nintendo’s website, this maintenance period will begin on Thursday, April 19 at 6:50 PM PT, running through 8:30 PM PT. According to Nintendo, “some network services may become unavailable” during this time. Nintendo did not provide any more specifics about what services might be affected during this round of maintenance.

Nintendo–and other companies like Xbox and PlayStation–conducts regular maintenance on the servers for its online services and networks periodically to improve functionality and keep things up and running smoothly.

In other Nintendo Switch news, Bandai Namco recently announced that the remastered versions of Dark Souls for the hybrid system has been delayed. Originally set to launch on May 25 alongside the PS4 and Xbox One editions, the game (and the Solaire of Astora Amiibo) has been delayed to sometime in summer 2018.
